> Publish both Adhan and Iqamah for every prayer and Jumuʼah, name two people to keep them current, update them the day they change, and re-confirm them every few months so worshippers can trust them.

To put your mosque's prayer times online in a way people can rely on, publish both the Adhan and the Iqamah for all five prayers and Jumuʼah, give two named people the job of keeping them current, change them on the day they change, and re-confirm them every few months. Add your Ramadan, Tarawih and Eid times in season, and use announcements for anything out of the ordinary. The rest of this guide is a checklist for committees, with the steps for doing it on Salah Locator.

## Why it's worth doing

Every week someone searches for a mosque near them: a family who has just moved in, a student starting university, a revert looking for a community, a driver passing through, someone who has just been told about a funeral. Most of them want one thing first: when does the congregation stand?

A prayer-time app can calculate when the Adhan should be, but it can't know your Iqamah. Only you can publish that. When a mosque does, it turns "somewhere nearby" into "here, at 1:30".

## What to publish

**The daily timetable.** For Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha, publish both:

- the **Adhan** time, when the prayer's time begins and the call is made
- the **Iqamah** time, when the congregation stands

The Iqamah is the one people plan around. If your Iqamah times are fixed clock times that change every few weeks, publish the current ones and update them on the day they change.

**Jumuʼah.** Give the Adhan and the Iqamah separately, and the second jamaat if you hold one. Say in the notes if the khutbah is preceded by a talk. Our piece on [why Jumuʼah times differ](https://abdohoo.app/blog/why-jumuah-times-differ-between-mosques) explains why this matters.

**Ramadan.** Publish a Ramadan timetable for the dates of the month, your Sehri and Iftar times, the Tarawih start time and number of rakʼahs, and the khatm plan if you have one.

**Eid.** The date once it is confirmed, every jamaat time, and the venue if it isn't at the mosque, such as a park or a hired hall.

**The basics.** Address, an accurate map pin, a phone number people can call, and facilities: parking, a wudu area, a women's section, wheelchair access, Quran classes, Janazah services.

## Who keeps it current

Timetables go stale when they're everyone's job and therefore nobody's. Decide:

- **One owner**, usually the imam or the secretary, who registers the listing.
- **One back-up**, added as a contributor with the same editing rights, for when the owner is away.
- **When updates happen**: for example the Thursday before the clocks change, the week before Ramadan, and whenever the committee changes a time.

## Keep it trustworthy

Worshippers are right to be wary of a timetable that might be out of date. Two simple habits help:

- **Update on the day.** A time that changes on Monday should change online on Monday.
- **Re-confirm every few months.** On Salah Locator, saving your timetable, even without changes, records that you confirmed it. After about six months without a save, your page tells visitors the times may have changed since.

**Handle corrections.** People who pray at your mosque will notice a wrong time before anyone else. On Salah Locator they can report one, and it waits for you under **Reported corrections**. **Accept** updates the timetable at once; **Dismiss** changes nothing. Check the queue whenever you update the times.

## Use announcements for the unusual

Keep the timetable for the regular pattern and use announcements for everything else: a guest speaker, a changed Jumuʼah venue, a janazah, the moonsighting decision for Eid. On Salah Locator:

- **Pin** an announcement to keep it at the top.
- Save it as a **draft** while you check the details. (Only posts published straight away notify your followers.)
- Write it in **more than one language**: the forms have tabs for ten, from English, Arabic and Urdu to Bengali, Turkish and Indonesian.
- Add **events** with a start time so people can add them to their calendars, and a **live stream** for Jumuʼah or lessons if you broadcast them.

## Mind people's privacy

Only publish what the people involved have agreed to. A committee member's phone number and photo should appear only with their permission; a general mosque number is often better. Photos of the building, the prayer hall and events are fine; be careful with photos in which children or worshippers can be identified.

## Doing it on Salah Locator

Everything is free, with no ads.

1. **Check whether you're already listed.** Many mosques were added from OpenStreetMap and show **Listing from OpenStreetMap contributors — not yet confirmed by the mosque**. If yours is one and has no administrator, open it in the Android app, tap the three-dot menu and choose **Claim this mosque**.
2. **Otherwise, register it.** Create an ordinary account (there's no special imam sign-up), then choose **Register a mosque** in the app's **Profile**, or **+ Register a mosque** on the website's dashboard. The app walks you through it and checks for duplicates before you type anything.
3. **Fill it in while you wait.** New listings are reviewed before they go public. Enter your timetable, facilities, photos and a first announcement in the meantime.
4. **Keep it current** from the website's **Manage Mosque** screen or the app's management screen: **Prayer Timings**, **Special timings** for Ramadan and winter, **Eid prayers**, **Tarawih**, **Announcements**, **Events**, **Live Streams**, **Committee** and the photo gallery.

## Offline copies still matter

Not everyone uses an app. Print the monthly or Ramadan timetable for the notice board: on Salah Locator, the **🗓 Ramadan timetable** link on your mosque's page gives a clean, printable day-by-day table. And keep the board and the listing in step: two different times are worse than one.

## A one-page checklist

- Adhan and Iqamah for all five prayers
- Jumuʼah Adhan, Iqamah and second jamaat
- Accurate map pin, address, phone and facilities
- An owner and a back-up with editing rights
- Dates in the diary: clock changes, Ramadan, Eid
- Corrections queue checked with every update
- Timetable re-saved at least every few months
- Permission for any names, numbers and photos you publish

Done well, an online timetable does the same job as the notice board by the door: it tells people when to come, and that they're welcome.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does it cost anything to put our mosque on Salah Locator?

No. Listing and managing a mosque is free, with no ads and no fees.

### Who can edit our mosque's listing?

Only the person who registered or claimed it, any contributors the Salah Locator team has added to it, and the platform's administrators. Worshippers can report a wrong time, but the mosque decides whether to accept it.

### How long does it take for a new listing to go live?

New listings are reviewed by a platform administrator before they become public. You can fill in the timetable, announcements and photos while you wait.

### Our mosque is already on the map, but nobody manages it. What should we do?

Claim the existing listing from the Salah Locator app rather than creating a new one, so followers and search results stay in one place.

### Can more than one person manage our listing?

Yes. One person owns the listing and others can be added as contributors with the same editing rights. Email support@abdohoo.app with the mosque and their account email.
